WorldEd Foundation is proud to recognize Egwu, Matthew Fidelis, for his outstanding work as a Community Coordinator in the Parent-Led Mental Health Advocacy Training, in partnership with HAN University’s International Social Work students.
Matthew brought this initiative to life in Iddo Sarki, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, by hosting an engaging training session at the Redeemed Christian Church of God Auditorium on April 24, 2025.

Training Highlights:
Over 45 participants, including parents, youth, and children
An interactive lecture on types of mental health challenges and how to identify and manage them
Roleplay sessions where children shared concerns and parents practiced support strategies
Breathing techniques like the Butterfly and Cupcake Breaths taught to help calm stress
Parents reported a shift in their understanding, recognizing that even children can experience mental health struggles
What stood out most was how parents—many of whom are teachers—committed to applying what they learned in classrooms and homes alike. The feedback revealed a powerful transformation: from discipline-first approaches to empathetic listening and support.
Matthew’s Reflection:“This advocacy changed the mindset of many parents. They now see the value in listening first—because behind every child’s misbehaviour could be a deeper mental health challenge.”
Matthew’s dedication extends beyond this training. He is a lecturer, researcher, mentor, and founder of the Anatomy Triad Foundation, where he leads educational and mentorship initiatives for youth across Nigeria.
Thank you, Matthew, for your remarkable leadership, deep compassion, and unwavering commitment to the mental well-being of children and families. You are truly making a difference.
