As part of the Sustainable Consumption Workshop 2026: Integrating Human Rights and Climate Action, organized by WorldEd Foundation, students from around the world have been exploring innovative ways to address some of today’s most pressing global challenges.

Among these inspiring participants, Team Global Masquerade, led by Myven Lishaa William and Rancy Moheb Philip, has successfully completed the program with a creative and impactful project focused on fast fashion.

From a Simple Observation to a Global Issue

Their project began with a simple but relatable realization: Clothes are often discarded—not because they are worn out, but because they are no longer “in trend.”

This observation opened the door to a much larger issue—the global impact of fast fashion.

With:

  • 92 million tonnes of textile waste generated each year

  • Less than 1% of textiles recycled into new products

  • The fashion industry contributing to nearly 10% of global greenhouse gas emissions

…it became clear that fashion is not just about style—it’s about sustainability and responsibility.

A Shift in Thinking

Rather than simply telling people to stop consuming fast fashion, Team Global Masquerade focused on something deeper:👉 Changing the way people think.

Their goal was to encourage students to:

  • Reflect before buying

  • Question trends

  • Recognize the value of clothing

Their message was clear:Sustainability is not about stopping creativity—it’s about creating responsibly.

Turning Awareness into Action

The team implemented a range of engaging and practical activities within their school community:

Awareness Campaigns

  • Posters placed around the school highlighting the impact of fast fashion

  • Discussions and lectures to educate peers on the issue

Interactive Activities

  • Creative sessions encouraging students to rethink their relationship with clothing

Thrift Flip Day

One of their most impactful initiatives, Thrift Flip Day, invited students to bring old clothes and transform them into something new.

This simple yet powerful activity helped students:

  • Rediscover the value of clothing

  • Embrace creativity

  • Reduce waste

Measurable Impact

The results of their project demonstrated a clear shift in mindset:

  • Awareness and understanding increased from 45% to 85%

  • Students began questioning trends and making more thoughtful choices

  • Clothing was seen less as disposable and more as valuable

Their work proved that real change begins with a change in mindset.

A Message for the Future

At the heart of Team Global Masquerade’s project is a powerful message:

“Change doesn’t come from knowing… it comes from thinking.”

In a world driven by trends and consumption, their work reminds us that every purchase, every choice, and every action has an impact.

Celebrating Participation and Impact

We proudly celebrate Team Global Masquerade for successfully completing the Sustainable Consumption Workshop 2026 and for their meaningful contribution to promoting sustainable fashion.

Their journey shows that even small actions—when driven by awareness and creativity—can lead to lasting impact.

As we continue to highlight our participants’ final projects, we are inspired by the passion and purpose of young leaders who are shaping a more conscious and sustainable future.
