WorldEd Foundation proudly celebrates Team: The Belonged Ones — Süleyman Aras Yılmaz and Kuzey Kuban Karaçay from Cezeri Green Technology Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, Türkiye — for their creative and heartfelt project under Milestone 1: My Story, My School, Our Voice.

Guided by their coordinator Serpil Faiz, this dynamic duo designed a fun and meaningful icebreaker called “The Soulmate Game.”The activity helps students connect beyond the surface, discover shared values, and experience what it truly means to belong.

In this interactive game, one student stands at the front with their back turned to the group while their classmates take turns asking simple, fun questions — like “Coffee or tea?” or “Mountains or sea?” With each answer, students start realizing how much (or how little!) they have in common. When a guess doesn’t match the student’s real answer, that player sits down until one person remains — their “soulmate.”

It’s a lighthearted way to build empathy, break social barriers, and show that understanding each other is the first step toward inclusion.

Objectives:

  • Help students explore what belonging means in their school community.

  • Encourage authentic connection and empathy among classmates.

  • Show that inclusion can be built through simple, joyful, everyday interactions.

Why It Matters:The “Soulmate Game” reminds us that belonging doesn’t always start with big moments — sometimes it begins with laughter, curiosity, and a few questions shared between new friends.By promoting self-expression and understanding, Team The Belonged Ones perfectly embodies this year’s theme: “Beyond Inclusion: Building Everyday Belonging.”

A simple game. A powerful message. Because when we take the time to get to know each other, everyone feels seen.
