Our Sustainable Consumption Project concluded with a powerful celebratory event that showcased the passion, creativity, and leadership of youth committed to shaping a more sustainable world and tackling the United Nation Sustainable Development Goals.

Over the course of several weeks, students from across Europe and Africa came together to explore real‑world sustainability challenges—proving that meaningful change starts at the community level.

A Truly Global Youth Initiative

This year’s project brought together 13 teams and 26 students from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, representing institutions such as:

  • Cairo International School

  • Smart City International School

  • Kuluçka Career Acceleration Center

  • Martyr Ömer Halisdemir Anatolian High School

By uniting students across continents, the project created a rich environment for global collaboration, peer learning, and shared responsibility toward the planet.

A Multi‑Stage Learning Journey

The Sustainable Consumption Project was designed as a hands‑on, progressive experience, guiding participants from understanding sustainability concepts to implementing and measuring real action. Throughout the program, teams completed a series of structured milestones:

  • Introduction Videos

Teams introduced themselves and identified the sustainability issue they wanted to address—food waste, fast fashion, or single‑use plastics—framing the problem within their school or community context.

  • Project Proposals

Students developed detailed proposals outlining their research, solutions, limitations, and implementation plans. This phase emphasized critical thinking, feasibility, and alignment with environmental and human‑rights principles.

  • 30‑Second Awareness Advertisements

Creativity took center stage as teams produced short, impactful ads designed to educate and inspire action. These videos demonstrated powerful storytelling, innovative visuals, and clear calls for change.

  • Earth Video

In deeply emotional videos, teams connected their projects to Earth, people, and future generations, highlighting progress made and reflecting on their responsibility as global citizens.

  • Final Presentations

The project culminated in live final presentations, where teams summarized showcased their innovative project solutions and results, and reflected on lessons learned. This final stage emphasized evidence of action and measurable impact.

Real Solutions, Real Impact

Across the project, students moved beyond awareness to implementation and measurable change:

  • Conducted school food‑waste audits and student surveys

  • Reduced cafeteria waste by significant percentages

  • Led educational sessions for peers and younger students

  • Organized clothing swap events and upcycling activities

  • Designed QR‑based sustainability guides and behavior‑change models

  • Partnered with school administrators and local stakeholders

These efforts demonstrated that sustainability is not only about ideas—but about acting, measuring, and reflecting.

Celebrating Our Sustainability Champions

While every participant should be proud of their contribution, three teams were recognized for exceptional implementation, impact, and leadership:

  • Planet Protectors

Delivered a standout project tackling single‑use plastics through behavior‑based design, QR‑guided tools, and measurable adoption of reusable alternatives—all firmly grounded in human‑rights and environmental protection.

  • No Crumb

Excelled with a data‑driven food‑waste initiative, conducting surveys, engaging cafeteria staff, and raising awareness through structured action—backed by clear evidence and analysis.

  • Wise‑Bite

Showcased a holistic approach to food waste by engaging children, schools, communities, and social media—demonstrating how education and small habits can create long‑term change.

These teams exemplify what it means to turn concern into action and vision into results.

Every Team a Winner

Each student lead, committed, and contributed to global sustainability efforts. The Sustainable Consumption Project was not about competition alone—it was about empowerment, learning, and collective impact.

Looking Ahead

The success of this year’s project reaffirms the power of youth‑led initiatives and global collaboration. The solutions, skills, and values developed during this journey will continue to influence students long after —rippling outward into schools, families, and communities.

As one message echoed throughout the project:

Small actions, when multiplied by many people, can change the world.

The Sustainable Consumption Project stands as a testament to what young leaders can achieve when they are trusted, challenged, and inspired to act for our planet.

Congratulations to all teams, mentors, coordinators and partner schools for making this journey a success. The future of sustainability is in good hands.
